April Twelth
Yesterday I reached David Lesser Memorial Shelter, passing by the Sweet springs store in Loudon county.
Rain storms are rolling in so I decided to take a zero day after four and five miles on days one and two respectively. With an early start and dry gear, I'll make the 11 miles to Bear's Den on what projects to be a sunnier Saturday.
The Sweet Spring Store is a great place to stop to resupply. The folks here are super friendly, helpful and supportive.
There are also some stellar views to the valley from Buzzards Rocks.
My dinner: One pack of ramen noodles with chicken flavoring, cuts of landjaeger meat snacks, thickened by my own mix of granola, dried cranberries and pineapple chunks, also dried. Definitely better than the freeze dried meal I had two nights ago.
What's in the granola?
It's made of steel cut oats, flax seeds, millet, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, olive oil and honey (preferrably with the liquids mixed separately but I did not do this) laid on baking sheets and put in the oven until toasty.)
